Happy President's Day! Those of us in the U.S. are celebrating two of our greatest president's today. President Washington and President Lincoln. This vintage graphic is so wonderful it displays items know to each president.
The image symbolized the hatchet for Lincoln and all the hard wood splitting he did as a farm hand in his younger years. The hatched and cherries also symbolized the fabled story of Washington who cut down his father's cherry tree and then questioned by his father, confessed to doing it. The story was actually made up by Washington's Autobiographer who wanted to show an example of how honest Washington was, in his character. Of course Lincoln was also known as a very honest person of character. Having the nickname of Honest Abe.
As a Christian I believe it is important to take a day like today and pray for the President and leaders of our country. I encourage you to take a few minutes out of your day and do this. They all so desperately need out prayers.
